Crewed and uncrewed space stations — including the International Space Station and China’s Tiangong — are trackable live on WatchSat. Positions update in real time from CelesTrak TLE data using the SGP4 orbital model. Where the count comes from

That figure is not an estimate: it is the number of objects in this group in the catalog snapshot this page was built from — CelesTrak’s active satellite list, which is the working spacecraft only, not the far larger catalog of rocket bodies and debris that also orbit Earth. Objects are sorted into groups from their catalog names, the same rule the live globe uses for its colours, so what you count here and what you see there always agree. The snapshot is refreshed twice a week and every page is regenerated from it, so a newly launched satellite appears within days of being catalogued — see how many satellites are in orbit? for why any single number is always a snapshot rather than a constant.
