Live Satellite Tracker
This is the WatchSat tracker itself: all 16,004 active satellites in the catalog (catalog of 2026-09-17), drawn at their real positions on a 3D globe and moving in real time. Click any point to select a satellite and read its orbit, its orbital elements, and — once you share your location — its next visible passes. The Moon, the Sun and the planets are placed by real ephemerides in the same scene, and the clock can be run forward, backward or at up to several hundred times real speed.
Where the positions come from
Orbits come from two-line element sets (TLEs) published by CelesTrak, which redistributes the US Space Force tracking catalog. WatchSat loads a bundled snapshot instantly, then refreshes from CelesTrak through its own edge-cached proxy. Every position is then propagated in your browser with the SGP4/SDP4 orbital model — the same math professional trackers run — so nothing about where you are or what you are watching is sent to a server. How accurate that is, and how it degrades as an element set ages, is spelled out in the data & methodology notes.
How fresh the data is
The bundled snapshot is regenerated from CelesTrak twice a week — a scheduled job commits the new element sets every Monday and Thursday, and every page on this site is rebuilt from that same file, so the number above and the orbit on the globe always come from one catalog rather than two. On top of that, the running app refreshes elements from CelesTrak through the /api/tle edge proxy, so a long-lived tab keeps working with current orbits. Each satellite’s page shows the epoch of the element set it is being propagated from, because a TLE is a fit to past tracking data and its accuracy decays with age.
What you can do here
Click a satellite to select it and follow it around its orbit, with its inclination, period, perigee and apogee read straight off the element set. Share your location and the same page will compute the next visible passes on your device. Run the clock forward to watch an orbital plane precess, or back to see where something was. Filter to a single constellation — Starlink, OneWeb, navigation, space stations — to see the shape of that network on its own.
